Please can someone explain this problem.

10^8 - 10^2

10^7-10^3

can seem to figure out the solution.

numerator can be factorized by,
10^2 (10^6 - 1) [10^6-1 is little less than 10^6. So we can approximate it by saying it's 10^6]

denominator can be factorized by,
10^3 (10^4 - 1) [10^4-1 is little less than 10^4. So we can approximate it by saying it's 10^4]

So,

10^2 * 10^6 10^2
----------------- = -------- = 10
10^3 * 10^4 10^1
