Timing Fiasco!

by blitz28 » Tue Nov 25, 2008 5:09 pm
Hi,

I gave my first MGMAT test today ( Free online)
My score was as below Q 41 and V 31 .
I have started my prepration some 20 days back and trying to put in increasing number of hours. However with time I surely have become exam rusty, I faced some problems like

1) I finished the Quant section 8 minutes before time, also my concentration level kept fluctuating. By the end of Quant section I felt drained, however I knew I had to carry on
2) I Started my verbal section, and my the midst of it.. I was absolutely not able to go further, it was a drag. my concentration level fell. I just wanted to get to the end of screen, with zero stamina remaining. obviously i marked the last 10-12 questions in a hurry, didnt even look at them again and rushed. with 12 minutes remaining the screen popped up a score of 590!

I have not given a timed exam in last 6 years, any tips on the same.

I am waiting to hear some guidance on this!

Don't feel discouraged - that's normal for beginners. Most people aren't subjected to 4 hours of intensive examination conditions on a regular basis. You should keep practicing CATs in order to build endurance and stamina. Once you have progressed a bit in your studies and have learned the fundamentals of the exam and various topics, you should start timing your practice in 20/40 minute blocks to further build stamina. These two things combined will help greatly.
