pascal's triangle and binomial theorem

hi, I was reading from the "counting, permutations and combinations" document which was published in this forum, and I don't underst the : pascal's triangle and binomial theorem, If anyone can explain me clearly once and for all, these two I will really appreaciate this...

also, if there is any other material regarding permutations and combinations, can you post a link or something...because I don't understand these two...
