HBS Essay

by nm1158 » Wed Aug 13, 2014 6:31 pm
Hi!

I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to tackle HBS's open ended optional essay.
I'm wondering whether this should be more personal or more professional. I have a few ideas for both and was wondering if anyone had thoughts on what would be better?

- Essay on unconventional decisions I have taken - such as focusing on art in high school, taking comms as a major despite being good at math, jumping back into a math based profession
- Essay on the diverse interests I have. I love exploring and trying new things. I travel every month, dabble in art, dance, photography, Volunteer for different organizations etc.
- Essay on how I lead a student club at NYU, showing growth and impact
- Essay on monthly events that the EVP of my practice, myself and another co worker lead. How we treat it like a startup and how it has grown since we started in Feb this year
- Essay on how I stepped up to take care of an account after the director leading the account left abruptly

Any advice much appreciated.

Hi,

A good point to keep in mind is that while answering these questions each essay should show unique qualities, diverse experiences and aspects of your personality. Each experience should hi light how it impacted your life.

Try to avoid random experiences. Each essay should help them know more about you.

Good Luck!!
