Hi all,

I have just purchased the CAT's for Manhattan and after going through them it is getting extremly hard to finsih them on time.I'm continuously being left with sometimes 4 and sometimes 7 questions on the quant section.

I have also noticed that some of the difficulty level of 700-800 questions are really using logic base setups which you have to figure out.But on the whole I think it is wayy difficult than Kaplan.On the other hand the marking is waayy leniant..
The question comes, that how is it getting closer to GMATprep estimates than??..

I know it is good for practice, but will it effectually loose some focus on GMATprep kind of questions as well as how smoothly to manage time.I'm left stuck on some hard 700-800, para like quant questions which really require innovative approaches or mostly combinatorics or prob q's, with some steps that they have been outlined in their guides.How I manage them with time?..iam hovering over 40 41 in them :(

Verbal is ok, but the 700-800 also brings in logic based arguments like LSAT's.

I understand the difficulty of finishing MGMAT cats especially the quants section. But you need to learn one thing from the cats apart from concepts. Time management. You should learn to give up a difficult question if you think that you'll not be able to solve in a max of 2.5 or 3 min. So make an educated guess and move on to the next question. Ignoring a 700+ question is fine and you will not be penalized much. This is how you manage time in quants section.

True;
I have seen people getting scores a 50Q-49Q on MCAT without scoring a single 700-800 level question...problem is that when I see a 700-800 level question I immediately realize it and then start working on it to get to the bottom of it!...I do sometimes and sometimes I dont...and that actually breaks apart the time management!!

Their CR also tend to be really wordy, coupled with the SC...and to top it the SC doesn't have any 2/3 split or stuff like that in your favor.On the other hand their marking is veryy lenient and doesn't penalize for the string of wrongs in the beginning.

Agree to whatever you say. Their marking looks pretty lenient. But remember that they are only trying to imitate actual GMAT scoring algorithm and come as close as possible like how other prep companies do. So, its pretty natural to see few minor problems in their algorithm. In my opinion, they are the second best score indicator after GMATPrep.

Neither i'm a fan of their CR's and RC's. Sometimes CR options are debatable to me. Not sure whether i'm pretty dumb to notice the nuances of the options. Same applies for RC's. However, I felt that their SC's are pretty good. To me, it imitates actual GMAT questions.

Another thing Ive noticed is the MGCAT have a habit of playing around with words too much!...in effect of actually rearranging the modifiers so much that i actually lost track of which corresponds to which and ended up giving the wrong answer.Take a look at below question:

Health insurance Plan A requires the insured to pay $1000 or 50% of total cost, whichever is lower. Plan B requires the insured to pay the initial $300, but then pays 80% of the cost over $300. Which of the following is a cost level for which both insurance plans pay out the same amount?

Here got confused over the word '..but then pays', who pays?? :P...I reversed it to instead of the insurance company paying the insured payed 80%.In fact it was 20% from insurer!
