Personal Info:

I am an avid reader: world politics, History, Biographies.
I have done really long road trips : Driven across the highest motor-able road in the world( Ladakh, India) and many more.

Please let me know ..
1. Is my profile competitive enough for Top 10 US B Schools? What are the major loop holes in my candidacy?
2. Do I need to Retake the GMAT. I have just 67% in Verbal and 4.5 in AWA. Can these be red flags?
3. Should I focus more on extracurricular activities beyond work?

Thanks!!

sniper,

You may have a chance at the lower end of the top 10 schools if you execute well in your essays etc. Aside from your verbal score, which is an issue (you should retake to raise it closer to the 80th percentile), your greatest 'loop hole' is the demographic from which you're applying. It is a very competitive one, and your profile, while strong, is not distinctive. If you are considering applying this year, it is probably too late to change this much, but if you are 26 or lower you can try next year and spend the coming year raising your verbal score and perhaps pursuing a leadership role in an extracurricular activity that's off the beaten track (among other possible strategies for differentiating yourself). It's not clear what the nature of the NGO work you do is, but if it is not a leadership role, you have room for improvement.

Hope this helps,
