In constructing a viable educational curriculum for the public schools, the school board must attempt to shift the focus from textbooks instructing the children to educating the children with teachers.

textbooks instructing the children to educating the children with teachers
textbooks instructing the children to the children being educated by teachers
the instruction of children by textbooks to the education of children by teachers
instruction of children by textbooks to teachers that educate the children
children that are instructed by textbooks to teachers that educate the children
OA: C but in C 'instruction of children' appears inappropriate
[E],[D], -> parallelism is violated; [E][D] -> Teachers 'that' educate children [that - incorrect].
[A]-> eduacting 'with' teachers [with - incorrect]

Hi vishalpathak,

This SC is based on 2 grammar rules:

1) Style: The phrase "from _____ to _______" is proper style.

2) Parallelism: Since the sentence lists two "items", both items need to be written in the same "format" (same types of words, in the same order)

While the correct answer may "sound a bit weird", it IS in parallel format, so it's correct.

1st item: "the....instructION of children....by.....textbooks...."
2nd item: "the....educatION of children....by.....teachers....."

This type of 2-part parallelism will show up on the GMAT at least once, so be on the lookout for it.
