about essay questions

by gokce123 » Tue Jun 23, 2009 4:17 am
Hi,
this is my last question :)

In all mba schools there are lots of essay questions but i could not see that they are saying you can write additional essay about something or weak points.

I have weak points about gpa and want them to know about my undegraduate university and why i suffered in university. How can i add this info to new essay. How will i get this chance?

For example stanford questions

Essay Questions for Class of 2012
(entering Fall 2010)
Essay 1: What matters most to you, and why?
Essay 2: What are your career aspirations? How will your education at Stanford help you achieve them?
Essay 3: Answer two of the four questions below. Tell us not only what you did but also how you did it. What was the outcome? How did people respond? Only describe experiences that have occurred during the last three years.
Option A: Tell us about a time when you built or developed a team whose performance exceeded expectations.
Option B: Tell us about a time when you made a lasting impact on your organization.
Option C: Tell us about a time when you motivated others to support your vision or initiative.
Option D: Tell us about a time when you went beyond what was defined, established, or expected.

There is no open door for me to shine,it seems that they do not want me to write new essay and no explanation about additional essay.
thanks

Dear gokce123,

Many schools have either an optional essay and/or an additional information section where you can explain your transcript or offer insight into a potential weakness of your application. If the school does not offer either of these options, then you could try to email the admissions director directly with your explanation or do not address your GPA at all. I think you should look into what options you might have before you email the admissions director though; Stanford might have explicit instructions on its website/in its application regarding optional essays or explanations of transcripts. It is possible you will be instructed not to address it; if that is the case, then you must follow the directions.

By the way, any essay gives you a chance to shine. Be sure you write about your strongest example and highlight what makes you a great candidate.

Good luck,
Lisa
