There are other factors that contribute to your overall score. I think the most important factor is not the number of questions you get correct but rather the degree of difficulty for those questions. The CAT algorithm fluctuates your score by penalizing you more on missing easier questions and by rewarding you more on correctly answering harder questions.
There are numerous posts around the forum explaining this concept and there seems to be a general consensus regarding the relative importance of the first ten questions. Hope this helps.
