How to start my preparation for Sentence Correction?

Hi guys,

I completed my Manhattan review course here in Hyderabad, but yet I still have problems with the Sentence correction in Verbal while CR and RC' are fine for me. Can anybody help me in telling me from where I must start my SC preparation? I mean the way I must prepare for SC from the scratch. I have my exam on September 14th and am damn nervous about it.

Hi kanagasu,

It looks like you have 2 months until your exam. You still have time to really push yourself to solidfy your understanding of Sentence Correction. In fact, Sentence Correction is probably the part of the exam where you can improve the most.

If you completed the course and you still have trouble with sentence correction, chances are the course teachings were not suitable for your learning style.

I would recommend finding a friend who scored high and asking him/her to show you how he or she thinks through each question and what strategies he or she uses. Or you can consider some online resources that show you that efficient thought process.

Be careful about doing an endless supply of questions. If you find yourself reaching a ceiling and not getting to the next level, then you should consider changing the way you think through each question--rather than mindlessly doing more and more questions.

Thanks a ton for the feedback. My verbal tutor wasn't emphasizing too much on each topic, that was my problem. Time was a major contraint as he had to wrap up Sentence correction in three classes. Can you suggest me the books that would help me cover the basics in SC? I am thinking to buy Manhattan SC guide, is this good enough alongwith practicing all questions from the OG 12 and SC1000?

I believe it is important to build the grammar foundation before using MGMAT SC guide, which is focusing solely on topics relating to GMAT.

Some of the topics in SC guide are difficult to retain without understanding the fundamentals.
