279 Even as they never forgave the Crusaders who overran their homeland, the
Syrians have never absolved the French for taking territory from them.
(A) Even as they never forgave
(B) While they never forgave
(C) Just like they never forgave
(D) Similarly to not forgiving
(E) In spite of their never forgiving

Whats the difference btw Even as and while? i have seen the explainations about this question on this forum but somehow am not able to understand...pls explain...

Hi ,

Even as means : at the same time as.

See the Eg : even as he lay dying they argued over his estate"; "the building collapsed just as he arrived

While has a different meaning .. Here i guess while is used as a conjunction
While was conjunction means : during or in the time that. There is a subtle difference .
In this case i guess while is the correct word 2 use

IMO A.

The Syrians never forgave the Crusaders.
The Syrians never absolvd the French.

Even as is used for showing similarity.

Am I right ??
