670 - feels good but feels sad

by sohil1985 » Mon Nov 24, 2008 11:33 am
Hi All,

I just gave my GMAT on last Sunday. This was my second attempt. I gave my GMAT for the first time in September and scored poor 560 (Q 50 / V 17). but i guess I was not serious at that time and gave the GMAT with no preparation.

But this time I thought of giving the GMAT with my full efforts. Took off for 10 days from my work and prepared for the exam and gave it but was not successful though it was also not a failure. This time I scored 670 (Q 50/ V30). Actually when I saw the score, I was happy because it wasn't 560 this time but I realized it was neither 7XX. Wanted to break that barrier. I was confident that I 'll at least go beyond 700 though I never scored 700 in my practice tests not even 670 but was confident.

I gave 4 KAPLAN and 2 GMATPrep.
K1 - 570
K2 - 580
K3 - 580
K4 - 590

G1 - 640
G2 - 610.

Now I am confused over whether I should go for GMAT one more time or whether should apply with this score only.
I am aiming for top 15 b schools.
Can anybody please suggest what to do??

I did my engineering in computer science. I am working with a product development company. I have an experience of 3 years with the same company. Had good academics but not exceptional. but won may trophies in sports. Also keep on participating in online programming contest. Was ranked among top 100 student Technologists in India. Also won many awards at my workplace. Was onetime employee of the year also.

This was a brief about myself.

Please somebody help me out in deciding what to do next?

Anyways, just wanted to thank everybody in this forum. It's really a help.

Thanks,
Sohil

scores are quite impressive given the low practice scores and short period of time !

All the best !

Great Jump Man. 560 to 670 is pretty impressive. Even I scored 590 in my first attempt which I took in July 08'. Now I am going to reappear on Dec 08'. Like everyone here, I also wish to cross the magical 7xx. Lets see what happens.
I am gonna get u my love(GMAT)

Its not ur gmat as everyone says .. its ur complete package .. I know few of my friends with scores of 650 and 660 getting in wharton and NYU . so its not ur score . At the end of the day its a just a test . A 4 hr test can never break/ make a persons career or life . it can never offset ur inherent brilliance or intelligence which one has been show- casing in his/her academics/ careers over the years.

if u feel ur other parts of the application are better than average . i recommend u to go ahead and apply . GMAT is just one part of the application . i am sure u will do well ..

All the very best !!!

Thanks iamcste, Rajib, cramya and Sudhir.
Really needed those appreciating words for boosting the confidence.
I am going ahead with this score and also have started applying.
I hope I can crack the application part.
