Organizational Behavior

Hi,

I am a female with 4 years of work experience as operations director of a small service company with massive experience with all aspects of running a business. I have a BA from UCSD with a 3.6 GPA and a GMAT of 660. I have multi cultural background and speak several languages.
As I was looking at MBA programs I realized that what is most exciting about them is the Organizational Behavior classes.

1. I understood it's possible to do an MA in Organizational Behavior (instead of a full MBA) - if this is the case which are the best programs in the US?
2. In the future I see myself go into an HR department or other managerial role in an organization, with the hopes of shifting into consulting or coaching later in life. Would a full MBA give me more opportunities than an MA like I mentioned above?

Also does anyone know anything about the Northwestern MSLOC program?

GMAT

Yes - I have taken the GMAT twice - 630 and 660
I also tried to apply to Kellogg, Stanford, Berkeley and was denied in the 2nd round last year.

Would appreciate any feedback

There could be multiple reasons that you were rejected from these MBA schools. All of them are very competitive schools and you would need to score over 700+ in order to apply. Secondly, I am not sure if you reached out to some consultant to help you tighten up your story. Thirdly, 4 yrs of experience is all areas of business is extremely generic. One has to understand the depth of what they have done atleast to some extent. (Or maybe you aren't giving me enough information to work with).

Now, if you are interested in MSLOC program - do you meet the specific requirement below? Because, from what you said above, it seems you have 4 yrs of generic work experience and these people are looking for at least 3 yrs of work experience in this specific field. How are you planning to approach this requirement?

Additionally, the admission criteria for this program is different. Most students, when it comes to MSLOC program, have 10 YRS of work experience out of which 3 are required to be 'relevant' work experience.

I'm not sure if you qualify for MSLOC program. Here are your options.
1) Figure out whether you want to still go the MBA path or MSLOC path.
2) If it is MBA path - you will need to re-take GMAT. Since you've already past the first round deadlines and there is a possibility that you will miss the second round - you can apply next fall. The benefit is that you will have had more work experience to offset your GMAT scores.
3)If you want to go MSLOC track, you are too early to be thinking about it. Talk to people who are enrolled in the program, get to know them and get the relevant experience that you need under your belt first. Then think of applying. Either way, if you move into this profession, it does not change your course to take MBA or Masters - later.

Hi Sophia- I am planning to apply for MSLOC program, currently have 10 yrs of exp in benefits domain of HR CONSULTING firm. I still have to go through gpa calculation and GMAT, however just looking for gmat score range to get the admission in this program . Thanks
