Please Advice need to make 600 -> 700+

by ketan.gmat » Wed Nov 10, 2010 5:12 am
I am looking for advice from all those who are trying for the second time or made it in the second time....... I took my first attempt two weeks back scored a real bad one at 600 (Q44,V28) What shall i start now with I mean OG is done not that I have memorized it all or any thing but I really need that great score specially in verbal I have to reach the early 40's I know improving quants to a certain level is much easier than improving verbal......

What is that I should do this time to make it at 40........ I wanna see that 700 on my screen and ready to do any thing for that. Please help me and Advice any thing or books that may actually help mw with my second attempt.

Based on my GMAT Prep scores my quants score was consistent around 48. but got tripped in the real at the first few questions. Where as Verbal I scored in the same range I was on my practice tests. For sentence correction I hold a success rate of around 70-80% whereas with CR arnd 70% though I get the asumptions and bold face often wrong. Working on that RC 60-70% success rate...

Books used OG 10-11-12
Princeton Review.
MGMAT SC guide(Old edition)
Kaplan.

My fellow test takers please advice with ur experiences or any thing u think I am lacking and Experts advice greatly solicited.

Well, ideally ,you shouldn't have taken the GMAT when you
a) knew that you are not getting the desired score on Verbal and
b) wanted to score 700+

A score of 28 indicates that you're conceptually not strong. I had replied to one similar query on another forum. You may want to go through that.Lemme know here if you any questions .

Thanks for referring the post.

For me its not abt losing the concentration or any thing yeah but I do get anxious on the real tests. The same happened with me on the test day the first 3 questions for quants were tricky things that were easy and I had done the same things so many times but they were tricky... and I kept calculating with the same approach as due to anxiousness any other approach didn strike me at all. After repetitive trials I ended up guessing as well as loosing 4 min and tht too on my first question just lost my calm there and the story followed. I guess i picked the test some where on DS questions in the later part where I was bombarded with DS back to back and I have been really working hard with DS as I was weak with them and actually made it in the end. I am confident with DS now.

Story with verbal, already given my success rates but where I lack is in recognizing patterns with in similar questions. I really need to improve in verbal in every section. Please Advice how can I help my self with that.....
