timing..

by resilient » Sat Jul 28, 2007 1:06 pm
I have finally gotten to the point of understanding material to the point of trying them in a timed manner. I also have realized that the under the pressures of time i buckle up and make careless mistakes just to make time. But things have gotten better. Can anyone help me with this type of problem!

Practice makes perfect of course. Every question you do from now on should be timed - the first time you try it. Then spend as much time as you need going over it.

Figure out the more efficient ways to do it, ways you might not have noticed the first time you tried it.

Figure out how and when you'll decide when you have to pull the plug on a problem, make an educated guess, and move on. (You will have to do this - nobody can get around it, not even those of us who teach this stuff!)

Keep a log of your mistakes and why you made them. When you find patterns (specific errors you tend to make over and over again), figure out what you can do to stop yourself from continuing to make that mistake.

This is great info. I have recognized some of my mistakes and have been focusing in on them. I didnt know i was to just pull the plug if the question is a monster. I took an exam completely cold with absolutely no preparation and got a 350. it has been months and I have been studying religiously but i need a 700. do you think this is possible.? i ammuch more comforetable with the material now it just comes down to timing. can you recomend way other that what i have been doing to achieve this!

I don't know whether it's possible without additional info. (Well, I mean, anything's possible...) Have you taken a practice test recently? What did you get?
