Drama and music !

To my utter disappointment , iam getting these simple ones wrong,
Worst problem being iam unable find the mistake

Pls help.

1,2 Insuff as a individual statements

1,2 taken together percent of combined member ship that would be Male

=> (15+10)/(16+20)
Am i wrong ??

Hi,
I think that the problem in this question is that it is actually asking for the percent of men of the "combined clubs" to the total.
With combined it means male which are part both of Drama and Music.
Even if you combine the two statements you cannnot determine how many of the male in any of the two clubs are both inscribed to drama and Music so the answer is E.

I definitely understand the OP's problem with this question.

I realize this is gmat prep so I can't say this is an strange question, but at the same time it seems that the question stem should let us know if they do or do not have overlapping membership. Or at least hint at that possibility.

I don't think I find the question ambiguous - of course it should be possible for someone to be in both the drama and the music club, no? If the GMAT really wants to prevent any overlap, it will be made clear in the question - if a question is about people living in Country X and people living in Country Y, for example, then clearly there is no overlap. Anyway, that's the upshot in the question in the original post: some people might belong to both clubs.
