The OA is E
We can let n = the number of students who participated in the quiz in 2003 and create the equation:

0.8n = 1200

n = 1200/0.8 = 12,000/8 = 1500

Since the number of students who participated in the quiz in 2002 was 15% more than those in 2003, the number of students who participated in the quiz in 2002 is 1.15 x 1500 = 1725.

Answer: E
