Dana awesome score and awesome post...
first i'd like to thank u for your suggestion on the powerscore CR book...i am looking for some help on CR since that is my weakest section. thank u very much!
also after reading anirban's post totally agree with him. romania's education system seems uncanily familiar to india's...'keep up or die'...kids of indian friends who have returned to india from the US and are admitted to the 7th/8th grade in indian schools generally flunk coz they cant keep up with their indian counterparts at all!!

Hey DanaJ,

I stumbled upon this post of yours after seeing you patiently reply to every post on all those school pages, even when it means repeating something that's already been said and discussed. Brilliant stuff. I wanted to thank you for your efforts and wish you good luck in your "precious CBS" dream. Though I've been a silent spectator all this time, BTG has almost become a part of my daily chores. I look forward to give GMAT next year soon and hopefully break all records in here ;)

Dana, I know it's been a while since you took the GMAT, but could you recommend a good resource for SC ? I have the latest OG and the "blue" Verbal OG. Are there other resources worth adding to that?
I'm really old, but I'll never be too old to become more educated.

Hey tomada,

I've actually stumbled upon even better SC books than what I used when I prepped :) Many say that the Manhattan SC guide is the standard and I def agree it's got a really good theory part.

Your debrief of May 2009 still inspires many many many many people who aspire for a stellar score in GMAT.

You had CBS plan, Mathematical modeling, GMAT tutor........

Just one query.... What did you finally pursue apart from the fact that you were/are a very active part of BTG still...

You truly inspire everyone who dreams of GMAT....

Haha much has changed since May 2009. I graduated as class valedictorian, decided to go for a one year masters degree in finance (which I finished last year) and am currently one of the 4 full time employees of BTG! I've also decided to postpone going for an MBA until a little bit later on, when I have more experience. I guess I was a bit too naive at the time, but oh well! Thankfully I'm cured of that :)

I just love your post Dana! Congrats on your great score! You write and explain really well, so I definitely believe you can teach. And besides, you seem to be someone who gets what she's put her mind to, so it shouldn't be a problem any way.
Your post is truly inspirational, and that is what has compelled me to reply. I've only recently registered on this website, and I've been a silent observer so far. But I just loved your post!
I've also studied Finance, and I only recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree. And like you, I really want to get into a very good school for MBA. But having read your post, I feel that you've done so much, and I really have a lot to do before such schools would even consider me! You've really had so many good experiences - a very "rich" life..
Your post has encouraged me in many ways. And I'm sure you can get into Columbia! Best of luck with that.
Thanks a lot for posting such a good debrief! :D

Hi @Dana, having come across your name in so many posts across BTG and other forums, it almost feels that I have known you in some way :)

Well your briefs was one of the first that I read when I started out with my GMAT prep and I must say it touched a few inner notes. It gave a sense of poise and calmness to the whole gruelling preparation process. Also it reinforced the idea how important it is to be as much relaxed as possible and enjoy the process.

Out of curiosity, have you gone for your mba yet (after your masters) as I couldnt help but notice that the time gap since you took your last gmat is more than 5 yrs now. Or are we going to see an 800 from you!

Cheers
