By what percent is the time taken by 12 men to complete a particular task greater than the time taken by 10 women to complete the same task?

(1) The time taken by 6 men to complete a particular task is 25% more than the time taken by 5 women to complete the same task.

(2) The time taken by 10 men to complete a particular task is 10% less than the time taken by 6 women to complete the same task.

To be strict, there is no mention that all these particular tasks are same task. Hence, the answer should be E as we cannot relate any of the statement with the question.

Assuming they are same task,

Statement 1: Say time taken by 5 women to complete the task is 100x hours.
Hence, time taken by 6 men to complete the task is 125x hours.

So, time taken by 10 women to complete the task is 50x hours.
And, time taken by 12 men to complete the task is 125x/2 hours.

Hence, we can determine the required percentage.

Sufficient

Statement 2: Say time taken by 6 women to complete the task is 100y hours.
Hence, time taken by 10 men to complete the task is 90y hours.

So, time taken by 10 women to complete the task is 6*100y/10 hours.
And, time taken by 12 men to complete the task is 90*10y/12 hours.

Hence, we can determine the required percentage.

Sufficient

The correct answer is D.

Wow, Anurag that's an important aspect that I missed. It didn't even occur to me that in fact all 3 tasks could be different and E could be in contention. Woah.

Anyway since the OA is [spoiler](D)[/spoiler], I believe that in this case they've assumed that the tasks are same. Thanks for the informative and elaborate solution.
