I'm planning to join a full time MBA program in any of top 20 US b-schools. Here is my profile. could you experts be so kind as to review it and advise me on which schools I have a realistic chance.
Profile:
Country : India
Degree : Bachelor of Engineering (B.E)
Branch : Computer Engineering
GPA : 3.0 (80.3% 1st rank in my branch in College)
University : Rajasthan University
Work Experience :
1)Company : vWorker.com
As a freelancer : software designer
Duration : 11 months (May 2007 to Apr 2008)
Worked for clients from all over the world and got very good recommendations/testimonials
2)Company : IT (include Accenture etc.)
Designation : Senior Consultant
Duration : 3 Years 4 months (Apr 2008 - Present)
Worked in business intelligence and worked on IBM planning software. Took several initiatives to improve project performances, achieved 2 IBM certifications and became a certified Solution Expert in the field. In my domain I create models for companies to do their budgeting, planning and forecasting.
Created intellectual property for Accenture.
3) Founder of a website which helps students plan their careers
Duration: 5 months
Extracurricular activity wise I've won a couple of awards in technical quizes at college time, won district level chess competition while in school, run a blog in my technical field and also a youtube channel. Using these 2 I help consultants learn the basics of tool.
a few schools i've thought of:
HBS
Carnegie Mellon
Stanford
Wharton
Columbia
Dartmouth
UCLA
McCombs
NUS
I've not yet attempted a GMAT although preparing for it, accident in Apr introduced delay in my plans. My question is do i stand a chance in any of the top 20 US bschools. My plan is to do technical consulting after MBA for companies such as Accenture/deloitte/IBM etc. as I've always been good technically and right mba will give me an edge.
In the long run (15 years down the line) I want to start my own venture (internet based). I keep creating new websites even now, but opting to work full time for a company (instead of entrepreneurship) because of risk and economic limitations.
