I wrote gmat last year, with a prep of jst 2 weeks. nd got a 600. This year wrote last week wit abt 2 mnth prep nd got a 600 again.

math: 45
verbal: 27.

Both gmat preps gave me 640. math was 48 nd 46 in both. verbal was 30 nd 31. Was so disheartened to get 600 again. Writing again for the last time in Dec. Its verbal that I have to improve. SC and RC. In the preps, i used to get only 2 or 3 CR qstns wrong. So I hav to improve my Sc nd RC in an month. Suggestions plz!!

What is your target score?

If its 700+, you need to significantly raise the verbal score. To around 38 or 40 atleast. In my opinion, you should give yourself more time for verbal and 1 month may not be sufficient. RC and CR (particularly RC) can be improved only through intensive practice.

Thanks. Why I chose to write it next month is to be able to apply befor the international deadlines. And maths can be raised to 47 atleast and for verbal, my target is 35. Target is around 680. As i told, CR is gud for me. SC and RC is whre I am struggling.

I have a 150 passage collection nd its solutions nd a lot of SC questions nd tutorials, which I got frm my frnds. Hope that should do.

looks like you are also stuck in something similar to me :)...all practice and no gain!

I have realized one thing in verbal......doing practice usually does'nt make gains...I was struck on 30-34 max and after continuous labor of one month was still struck on 30!....

Do one thing from now, whenever u give a practice CAT, note down EACH and EVERY SC mistake you do on a flash card with explanation given, (do the same for quant if you like), memorize them, read them, flip them wherever or whenever...its only when things start penetrating into your subconscious that you will start doing better on verbal on GMAT...believe me I have given GMAT and know that at that time you really don't have time to go into 'ohh...here there is a past pariciple error and misplaced modifier and ...hmm" u just go by subconscious feel, and move on....thats how a native speaking mother of three scores 37 easily on her first attempt on GMATprep compared to a non native who tries to do by remembering a list and breaking verbal into something technical.
