- GMAT Score:730
A big Hello to all the members here. Although not an active poster i have spent many hours going through this forum and they have helped me immensely in my GMAT prep. I am planning to take the GMAT in Mid Feb. 2013 and my target score is 700+. Given my expereince with quant i am hoping to boost my overall GMAT score with a stellar (44 or higher) verbal section as I am interested in a few top 10 schools - my overall application, WE, GPA, is very strong.
My question concerns the preparation for CR (and also RC) . How much is enough? What indicators should one use to determine that the peak has been reached. I mention this because, Logic and Logical reasoning comes naturally to me and i went through the Power score LR book (LSAT) in about a week, did all the solved questions presented in each chapter and then moved on to OG13. Out of the 120+ questions (CR) on the OG13 , i had an accuracy of 89%, and the accuracy was 90+% for the last 20. Going through my error log, i see no real patterns ( by patterns i mean question types i am consistently getting wrong), and according to me some of the wrong answers could be attributed to fatigue ( i did the 120+ questions in two sittings on the same day) . I then moved onto some of the other resources i had handy,The Kaplan Premier 2013, The Princeton Verbal book ( got 95% accuracy from all the questions and solved examples) and the GMAT 800 CR (85+% accuracy of the practice sets given).
I am currently going through the RC material and strategy from the Kaplan premier 2013, and got all the questions correct in the passages given in the book. I would like to know whether i should stop studying for those topics (after doing the RC in OG13) and concentrate on SC and Quant or continue to find more resources on these topics. My main concern is with time management. Because i have not given the GMAT before, i do not know whether the questions in the materials i have mentioned are indicative of the " Medium - Higher" difficulty level questions of the ACTUAL TEST. I am waiting to finish my SC review before taking the GMATPREP CAT's.
P.s - All my question attempts were timed, I averaged around 1 minute 45 seconds per question.
Background: I am a Non-Native speaker. Fluent in English, and have always scored very well in English exams. I am a Physician with a MBBS and MD degree from a top 20 Medical Institute in India. I am a voracious reader and have gone through almost a book a week for the last 5-6 years.
