critical reasoning strategy

by rainmaker » Tue Feb 09, 2010 7:53 am
Hi Guys,

Probably I am asking a question that has already been asked million times on this forum. But I will still ask it one more time.
What is the best way to study for critical reasoning. I am using the PowerScore CR book. The problem is when I try medium to hard problems from OG, I tend to get quite a bit of them wrong. I am always confused between 2 final answer choices and not able to choose the correct one. Timing is also a huge problem for this section for me.

Can you guys please share your experiences and suggest ways to improve on this section?

Thanks a lot!

The best way to deal with choosing between two attractive answers is to not select an answer until you can label why the other answer choice is wrong. For instance, until you can say that one of the answer choices is the shell game answer, or the reverse answer, don't select it. Really attempt to hone in on why a choice is incorrect, so it leaves no doubt that you selected the correct answer. This will take a lot of time initially, but do this with your practice and then your speed will increase.

PowerScore CR book is more than enough to know concepts.

Next thing is to follow what osirus has told. I completely agree to it.
