Barnes: The two newest employees at this company have salaries that are
too high for the simple tasks normally assigned to new employees and duties
that are too complex for inexperienced workers. Hence, the salaries and the
complexity of the duties of these two newest employees should be reduced.
Which one of the following is an assumption on which Barnes's argument
depends?
A. The duties of the two newest employees are not less complex than any
others in the company.
B. It is because of the complex duties assigned that the two newest employees
are being paid more than is usually paid to newly hired employees.
C. The two newest employees are not experienced at their occupations.
D. Barnes was not hired at a higher-than-average starting salary.
E. The salaries of the two newest employees are no higher than the salaries
that other companies pay for workers with a similar level of experience

i know this CR was discussed by you guys before and i read what you typed in the forum but i still dont understand why the answer is C istead of B?

IMO: B, but why C is OA!

IMO C
Do the negation test on option C.
The two newest employees are experienced at their occupations. If this is the case, then the conclusion would no longer hold as the employees are experienced and can perform all the duties expected from an experienced professional. So, the supervisor would not have recommended to lower their salaries.

Ok, I am no expert but let me give it a shot: -

Lets simplify the first line of the question: The 2 new employees have high salaries but are assigned simple tasks. Secondly, they have been assigned duties which are complex for inexperienced workers (it DOES NOT say that the two new employees are inexperienced in their job. It might be possible that they have done the same job before with another company. Hence when Barnes concludes that the complexity of duties need to be reduced, he is assuming that the employees are inexperienced.

Choice (B)talks about the relation between the complexity of duty and salary but the argument says nothing about it and the conclusion is independent of the relation between the two.
