On farms throughout the Midwest region of the United States, cows, when slaughtered, undergo processes that decrease the levels of vitamins and minerals, such as iron, that would otherwise be present in their meat. As a result, local populations that rely on this meat for food often display health problems related to iron insufficiency. As a result, agriculturalists are suggesting that farmers in this region plant a new type of grass called NutriGrassx9 that contains a substance that cows can incorporate into their bloodstream to help them better absorb and retain iron so that their iron levels do not decrease during the slaughtering process.

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the prediction that the agriculturalists' plan will succeed?

(A) The varieties of grass that cows currently eat on these Midwestern farms require growing conditions under which NutriGrassx9 can flourish.

(B) The blades of NutriGrassx9 grow significantly longer than the blades of grass currently grown in this region, so grazing cows are likely to notice that the new grass is different from the grass they typically consume.

(C) There are no other plants eaten by cows that contain substances that could better help these cows absorb and retain iron.

(D) The grass currently grown in the region contains some important nutrients that are lacking in NutriGrassx9.

(E) There are other plants currently grown in the region that contain more of the same substance present in NutriGrassx9 that helps cows absorb and retain iron during the slaughtering process.

OA later. Pls explain your reasoning.

IMO B

BY THIS WAY THE COWS WILL EAT NEW GRASS AND HELP TO ABSORB MORE IRON AND THEIR PLAN WILL SUCCEED

This is a Strengthen the argument based question!

Conclusion : To increase the Iron Content in the cow, a new type of grass called NutriGrassx9 should be grown in their farmlands.

How can we strengthen it??

(A) The varieties of grass that cows currently eat on these Midwestern farms require growing conditions under which NutriGrassx9 can flourish.

It dismiss the doubt of whether the NutriGrassx9 can flourish or NOT. It supports the agriculturalists claim that NutriGrassx9

wil not only supplement Iron but also can grow effectively.

Pick A

(B) The blades of NutriGrassx9 grow significantly longer than the blades of grass currently grown in this region, so grazing cows are likely to notice that the new grass is different from the grass they typically consume.

Here we are discussing about "retainment" of Iron levels and Not about Favourism of cows for the specific grass.

C) There are no other plants eaten by cows that contain substances that could better help these cows absorb and retain iron.

This looks very close..People tend to pick this!! This is called subtle scope shift!! Never get "fooled" by this detractor.U will alway look one like this in real CR . My strategy is always look for one scope shift after finding the correct answer just to cross check.

Here, the author speaks about "plants".We are not concerned about them. our focus is al about tne Nutrigrass which can impart Iron or not!

(D) The grass currently grown in the region contains some important nutrients that are lacking in NutriGrassx9.

Ohh..yeah..But we r more concerned with Iron ..Dump her!

(E) There are other plants currently grown in the region that contain more of the same substance present in NutriGrassx9 that helps cows absorb and retain iron during the slaughtering process.

This is 180 degree answer. Its a absolute weakener. It thtashes the agriculturalist proposal vehmently.!!

Pick A

Thanks gmatmachoman. Nicely explained. OA - A.

I was tricked by B - bt now I understand why its wrong, primarily bcoz argument focusses on 'nurtigrasses' growth in farmland...not abt cows noticing them

Thanks
