At many colleges today, regulations have been imposed that forbid the use in speech or print of language that “offends” or “insults” the members of any group, especially women and racial, ethnic, and religious minorities. Although these regulations are defended in the name of “democracy,” they restrict freedom of speech and the press in a way that opposes the true spirit of democracy.
The argument above attempts to prove its case primarily by
(A) impugning the credentials of an opponent
(B) providing examples that support a theoretical principle
(C) taking advantage of inconsistencies in the definition of “democracy”
(D) revealing a contradiction in an opposing point of view
(E) appealing to the patriotic feelings of its audience

nopes...it's D

even i opted out for C... not aware why not C...is it just becasue C seems to be too specific ... or that's just because our understading/exp tells us argument above is taking advantages of inconsistencies in definition of democracy

I was split between C and D. However, I thought D was being a little too specific. Oh well.

Was stuck between C and D initially but chose D over C, without a very strong reason to eliminate C. D to me sounded better in this context.

Will request some expert to please explain this one.

Thanks.

C vs D

C- taking advantage of inconsistencies in the definition of "democracy"
The arguments does not give you a definition for democracy'. So, you cna not find the inconsistencies.

Now look at the last statement.....press in a way that opposes the true spirit of democracy.

This is what D says. Hope this helps.
