How good is "GMAT Hack" material?

by sedagive » Wed Jul 16, 2008 8:54 am
Hi Everyone,
There is a GREAT post from ElizabethWiggs on her experience in getting 770 on the gmat. Among other things, she raved about the study material available at https://www.gmathacks.com (the Math Bible, and the study companion to the OG)

Has anyone else purchaced the materials from this website? Has the experience been a good one?

I've recently been burned by a local test prep class (PrepSuccess out of Raleigh, NC). I am $450 poorer, with only an EMBARRASINGLY low GMAT score to show for it. So, I'm a little wary of throwing money around to sites I've never heard of before.

I checked out some of the articles on https://www.gmathacks.com, and they are really impressive. Is the site's study material is as good as the articles?

Hmm, I guess no-one has used GMAT Hack, judging from the lack of response :?

I think a few members have said that they've used the materials. Be sure to search through the archives, I recall seeing several posts on this.

Thanks, I think it was a matter of using the right keywords.

Hi Sedagive,

I have used the GMAT Math Bible from Jeff Sackmann. I will tell you, I thought it was really really well done. Its organized logically and detailed enough to truely master the concepts that you need to.

Admittingly, I didnt do well at all on Quant when I took my GMAT, but that was due to nerves and rushing through the questions. I was averaging close to 40 on my practice Quants, and so I dont think my lack of initial success is reflective of the quality of the material. I dont have much time right now, but if you have specific questions, please feel free to ask. Id be glad to share what I know about gmathacks and the GMAT Math Bible.

Thanks Phumbert,

There seems to be a lot of good word about the GMAT Hack stuff in the archives. I bit the bullet and purchased some of his products last night.

I couldn't bring myself to blindly spend more $$$ on another GMAT prep course. Taking one prep course was a good thing, I suppose. But blindly taking another GMAT prep ourse, in hopes that they'd have some miracle cure for a bad score, seems unrealistic.

That's where hopefully the GMAT Hack stuff will come in.

I've learned a lesson in bombing the GMAT though. I made the assumption that I should score at least the GMAT average (540, 50th %ile) because I am at least of average intelligence....BIG MISTAKE! The GMAT has to be taken seriously. But I digress.

Thanks again and wish me luck!

Hi sedagive,

what are your thoughts on the Gmat Hacks materials so far? Which did you purchase?

I'm thinking of getting the Math Bible myself... your inputs on this would be much appreciated.

sedagive,

Hey, I'm also located in Raleigh. I almost enrolled in the Prepsuccess GMAT course, but decided not to at the last minute. After reading your comment, I'm glad I did not :). So have you bought the GMATHacks material? Have they helped? I'm planning on taking the GMAT towards the end of September.
