When the integer n is divided by 17, the quotient is x and the remainder is 5. When n is divided by 23, the quotient is y and the remainder is 14. Which of the following is true?
(A) 5 x + 14 y = 6
(B) 14 x + 5 y = 6
(C) 17 x - 23 y = 9
(D) 17 x + 23 y =19
(E) 23 x + 17 y =19

17x+5 = 23y + 14 (both are equal to n)

=>17x - 23y = 9 . IMO C

n=17x+5=23y+14

so 17x-23=9

Ans option C
