The issue is broadly related to the role of industrilization in society. Many people think that industrialization provide for psychological needs others think that industrialization actually reduces psychological satisfaction. The issue is a controvertial one but a closer examination reveals that the view, industrialization provide for psychological needs has more substance and importance for several reasons.
First reason is that Industrialized nations are now better equiped in providing their citizens with basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing. For example, availablity of food items. Food items are easily available today to the people than it were earlier. Earlier there were a very few number of shops or markets available to people, from were they could buy food items. Today, the situation has completely changed. Many shops, malls, and markets are present, were these food items are easlily available. Thus, industrialization has helped in reducing the psychological unsatisfation from citizens.
Second reason is that people are now becoming more aware of other needs. Industrialization has reduced the unsatisfaction, which may have caused high psychological unsatisfation if the basic need such as food, shelter and clothing were not met. As the basic need of people are met, people can concetrate and address the other needs, which they may have. In many instances, citical needs suppress other needs to such an extent that people tend to forget the other needs can concentrate only on the critical needs. As the critical needs are met, the other need which were suppressed, come up and people then focus their attention in meeting those needs. As a result, the society will progess more and physchological satisfaction in people reduces.
Third reason is, improvements in processes are essential. It is imperative that improvement continues. As we progress we address to our needs in the order of priority, which is determined by the usefulness of the need. As we improve processes, as per the necessity or demand, other improvements, necessities or demands may prop up. Addressing those improvements, necessities or demands will lead to the improvement in the processes. Since needs are the driving force behind new inventions and since new inventions in turn lead to development, therefore, it is important that people address all their need so that new inventions can foster.
In summary, while there are arguments to be made for both the sided, it is clear that industrialization provide for psychological needs. Therfore, the role, importance, and advantages of industrialization in addressing the psychological needs outweighs the counterview that industialization reduces psychological satisfaction. Lastly, the aforementioned points support and bolster my stand that industrialization provide for psychological needs.
