A plan is being considered to cut costs by limiting the number of shrimp ingested by the flamingos at the zoo; one concern is that visitors may not be as interested in seeing the flamingos if their feathers aren't as vividly pink.


A. that visitors may not be as interested in seeing the flamingos if their feathers aren't as vividly pink

B. that visitors may not be as interested in seeing one once their feathers aren't as vividly pink

C. that visitors may not be as interested in seeing the flamingos if the birds' feathers aren't as vividly pink

D. which visitors may not be as interested in seeing the flamingos if the birds' feathers aren't as vividly pink

E. which visitors may not be as interested in seeing one once the birds' feathers aren't as vividly pink

it comes down to A or C. and as 'their' is used awkwardly in A, I too would go for C.

IMO:C
A. that visitors may not be as interested in seeing the flamingos if their feathers aren't as vividly pink ---- " THEIR" is an ambiguous PRONOUN as it can refer to both birds and the visitors, so ELIMINATE....

B. that visitors may not be as interested in seeing one once their feathers aren't as vividly pink ---- THERE is ambiguous...and the sentence meaning shows that features are referring to the visitors �, so ELIMINATE

C. that visitors may not be as interested in seeing the flamingos if the birds' feathers aren't as vividly pink ---- Clear and no pronoun error

D. which visitors may not be as interested in seeing the flamingos if the birds' feathers aren't as vividly pink ---- Which is wrong as here the clause that is required is an essential clause...As SEMICOLON connects two closely related sentences which can stand alone...since WHICH is a connecting word and the sentence following cannot stand alone this is WRONG...

E. which visitors may not be as interested in seeing one once the birds' feathers aren't as vividly pink --- use of WHICH after semicolon is WRONG....
