Hello Ankita,

Problems with original question
1) Use of wrong idiom either x of y, it should be either x or y
2) Although X, y is wrong here because the author is talking about different musuems,Group that is reserved and an another group that is open for exploration. Logically the 2 parts have nothing in contrast, the sentence is discussing 2 types of museums in a way "there is A and also there is B"

3)In option E, Devoted to local history......is modifying both dozens of New York's small museums and also, which ia actually not the acsea s per original question.


Hence Answer is "D"

The correct version of the question is:

Although dozens of New York's small museums are either devoted to local history or various ethnic groups, there are[/u] many one-of-a-kind museums from Manhattan to the Bronx that are open for exploration on summer weekends.

In the construction either X or Y, X and Y must be parallel.
In A, devoted and groups are not parallel.
In D, the parallelism is correct.

So, the correct answer is D.
