I had trouble choosing b/w C and D but I choose D finally.
Note the absolute wording- "attributed only to". We have to find an alternate cause for the popularity of diatonic music to weaken the conclusion by explaining an alternate cause.
A. shell game, talks about popularity of non-diatonic music. Usage of "some" restrict the scope of generalization.
B. out of scope
C. does not affect the conclusion
D. Explains a possibility of an alternate cause to arrive at authors conclusion i.e. combined affect of innate disposition + social conditioning.
E. out of score
