Hi !!


I would like to apply for a full time MBA to UCLA and USC, I'm a french consultant with 4 years of experience and I'm graduated from a French Grande Ecole (an engineering school). If I get an average GMAT score and the required TOEFL score for the targeted schools and if my essays are good, is it better to apply for the last round this year or for the first round the next year ?
Do I have a chance to be accepted by applying for the last round ?

Hello,

I'm not sure what you mean by average GMAT - whether you mean average overall or average for the programs.

If you mean within the range for the programs and you put together a compelling application that differentiates you, then it would make sense to me to apply last round this year. The programs do accept people in the last round, though the odds of acceptance are lower. Often by that point in the admissions cycle, adcoms are looking to round out their classes, so you can evaluate your profile overall (including goals, extracurriculars, etc.) and determine whether you'd likely do that. Certainly those schools receive relatively fewer European applicants (especially USC) than top East Coast schools, which works in your favor.

In the worst case that you apply and are not admitted, you can reapply early next season - just keep in mind that you will need to show growth to be a competitive reapplicant.
