Statement 1 = Insufficient, K can be any value 4 or above and satisify the statement

Statement 2 = Sufficient

I believe the equation was meant to be 5^k-1 = 5^k - (500)

5^k-1=5^k/5 so 5^k/5+500=5^k

Multiply by 5: 5^k +2500=5^k(5)

Isolate: 2500=5^(k+1) - 5^k
2500=5^k(5-1)
2500=5^k(4)
625=5^k
k=4 , so 5^4 < 1000 so SUFFICIENT

If I did this wrong please tell me, I still make many stupid mistakes
