Well I can not tell you why E is right, But i can tell why A,B,C and D are wrong.

A) first of all : 'It' has unclear reference: Commitment or Executive ??
Second: likely to miss signs of X
or
likely to misinterpert them >> --> them can not refer to signs here ?
B) B is clearly out, because there is no WORKING verb.
An executive makes missing signs of....??

C) Very good and very tempting, But again I am not sure What 'it' is referring to at the end of sentence.

D) Good Start, but here Executive is in possesive form of NOUN, "Executive's"
and if you see at the end, "them" is referring to Executive, WRONG, should be 'their' or 'theirs'
Another mistake: Wrong parallelism : likely to miss ...or misinterpreting....

E) Sound very very odd to me, But I am not a native speaker of english, there are thousands of expression i have not
heard. So I choose E.

Just for your information, PLEASE do not eliminate the choice on the base of 'BEING'.
I found , whenever Being is at the starting of sentence. It is acceptable by GMAC.
