GPA/GMAT Question

by gpb14 » Sat Apr 23, 2011 12:09 pm
I'm sure this is not a new question, but thought I'd share my story for some insight. I am planning to apply to several Top 10 schools this fall and am concerned that my UG GPA is lower than average. However, I feel like I've overcome any concerns schools my have from my academic potential due to the information below. Would you say that's a far assumption? (Obviously there are many other aspects to an application but this is what I feel is the weakest part).

UG GPA: 3.1 from a top 5 engineering school (3.5 in last 2 years and 3.5 within major)
GMAT: 760 (49Q, 45V), only took once
Will have 5 years work experience in consulting at matriculation.

Should I stop worrying about my GPA?

I think you should. :)

You have an excellent GMAT, good experience. If you can submit excellent essays and have some extracurriculars to show for, then GPA can be overcome.

From what I have heard, you can also take a course in basics accounting/Statistics/Finance/Economics before applying and cover for your GPA.
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)

Good call vineeshp. However, I neither want to take an additional course nor feel like I have the time to with a traveling job.
