C. wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock fed on grain and have more fat of a kind thought to be
D. total fat of wild animals is less than livestock fed on grain and they have more fat of a kind
thought to be
E. total fat is less in wild animals than that of livestock fed on grain and more of their fat is of a kind they think is

C for me

In D : fat == livestock is written
In E : their in the last phrase is ambigious
In A : pronoun is ambigious

Analogy: 'He is lot fatter than her'
He has less fat than that of her... C i guess

Kindly correct if I went wrong anywhere

I would also go for C because sentence should begin with "wild animals" and only A,B and C does that. In A usage of "they" is ambiguous
In B wrong comparison of total fat is being done by livestock fed on grain.

Why should it begin with wildanimals...

According to recent study, "fat level in domestic stock is high"... why cannot it be like this?

AIM,,
why is B wrong? Havnet understood your red ink!!

B. wild animals have less total fat than livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat thought to be

Two issues :-
1] eliminated "have" . There should be "have" after and .
2] more of a kind of fat OR more fat of a kind === which is better and precise ?

Hi HSPA,

If u read the sentence carefully u will realise that after comma sentence should begin with wild animals because the sentence is using "comparing", "recent studies"...............

AIM,
for the part 1) here plz clear my doubt.
when it comes to parallelism,
have X and have Y OR
have X and Y
both the above can be taken to be correct right?

Yep both are correct , but if you compare B and C in this SC :-

B. wild animals have less total fat than livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat thought to be
C. wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock fed on grain and have more fat of a kind thought to be

We are having less than and then more , so it is safe to write the verb again to make the sentence clear with meaning .

The generalised rule states that we can omit the second verb if it is same as the first.

Ex :- New York is as distant from San Francisco as Boston is [distant] from London.

New York is a large and [is] an exciting city.

I hope i have not created confusion by quoting that . For more input refer :-

The OA given for this question is B...but sorry there is no OE

I think C has comparison issue

wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock fed on grain

here what is THAT OF..??? actually it is nothing...if the sentence would be..

The meat of wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock....here THAT OF make sense and refer to meat...

This is just my opinion..if m wrong please correct me....

Thanks

B. wild animals have less total fat than livestock fed on grain and more of a kind of fat thought to be

Analogy:
Currently, I have less money than Bill Gates --> has no comparison issue.
The above sentence could have been written as : Currently, I have less money than Bill Gates has., but "has", which is an helping verb, in the end is extra and unnecessary because the meaning of the sentence is clear and unambiguous.

C. wild animals have less total fat than that of livestock fed on grain and have more fat of a kind thought to be
"that of" is incorrect here. If all we need to put "helping verb", it should be "has" not "that of".
