For sake of completeness, can someone comment on D.
I see D has coordinating conjunction instead of contrasting conjunction.
Is that the only reason??

Also can some one fix D without using 'but' ??

I had D as my other top contender. Hence the question.

thanks

The usage of still makes the contrasting conjuction more appropriate.
