Hi all,
I was looking at possible education opportunities and found the London Business School's Masters in Management (MiM) program, which look like a good fit for me since it's designed for recent graduates with less than 1 year of work experience.
- Graduated from a Top 10 Engineering school with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering / Minor in Economics with a 3.19 GPA
- Was heavily involved with student consulting teams, case competitions, and business clubs throughout undergrad despite my engineering degree (started out wanting to do engineering, eventually had a change of heart and wanted to do consulting)
- Currently working at a small IT consultancy specializing in energy companies with less than 1 year of experience
Is the Masters in Management program actually worth it? I believe it isn't really a substitute for a MBA program, but London Business School is one of the top business schools in the world and having that on my resume would be absolutely nice. Then again, it is a major investment (~35k USD) and I'm not sure if I would go for an MBA if I completed the program, which would be another 40-50k USD. Or, should I just wait a couple more years and apply for an MBA?
If it is actually worth it, what are my chances of getting in? I know my 3.19 GPA is a little low (but it is an Engineering GPA), but I'm hoping that my 740 GMAT would counter that.
And lastly, LBS is requiring 2 letters of recommendation. Given that I've been working for 2-3 months, it seems a little weird to ask my supervisors for letters of recommendation. How should I spin it so they would give me an honest evaluation? And if I don't get in, I have a feeling they would act differently around me after asking for letters of recommendation. What should I do then?
Thanks!
