@Saurabh

I'm equally stumped by this question. IMO there is nothing wrong with A. What is the source of this question? And what's the OA?? I'm assuming it is E.

@Forum members/Experts..

Could someone please shed some light on the solution to this question with a nice little explanation??

Thanks in advance!!

there is nothing wrong in A except strange meaning,
according to the sentence
eruption of Vesuvius happened in two letters

but initial meaning is that nephew wrote in two letters

E should be the right answer.

The problem with A is in the placement of the phrase in two letters. It can suggest a meaning that the Vesuvius erupted in two letters about which nephew of Pliny the Elder wrote to the historian Tacitus. E is much more clear and is devoid of any ambiguity.
