Cause & Effect Relationship in SC

by chaitanya.mehrotra » Sun Jul 17, 2011 6:21 am
Doubt: Whats the issue with option D . It looks in fact more concise compared to the correct answer.
Is there a issue to say about the impact before the cause is mentioned in the sentence ?

the issue with " from " is that its just unidiomatic ( check MGMAT SC Guide Idiom strategy )
Due to is used to link nouns
Noun1 is due to noun 2
or
noun1 is caused by Noun2 .

I checked Man SC Guide , they have mentioned about the usage of FROM TO idiom . Nothing is said there which makes me conclude that FROM usage is unidiomatic !

sizes from a surfeit is just absurd . You dont use from to signify cause-effect relation ship

I see this way ......

Here the technical funda is b/w Because and due to...

Due to replace with caused by it makes the sentence ubsurd.......So D and E are out....

from A , B , C ......

B, C are wrong because it uses which and which is not required here.....

Choice A corrects all these and is the correct answer

This is correct reasoning. So far, I always used this technique as questions containing choices, differentiating b/w DUE TO and BECAUSE OF is very common. This technique is always helpful.

another reason why (d) is wrong is that "due to" is used incorrectly, although this fact is not acknowledged by the answer key.
