Option E changes the meaning.

Intended meaning is - Because the accountant was excited to have finished the lengthy audit, he closed the company's books.

Option E fails to convey this meaning.

Pick D.

Hope that helps..

I believe answer will be D.

The modifier "excited to be finished with the lengthy audit" modifies the accountant.
"Native of" is used for a individual while "Native to" is used for a large group

He has no reference in C. Option C doesn't contain the word accountant.
