Confusing CR!!!

Everyone who has graduated from TopNotch High School has an intelligence quotient (IQ) of over 120. Most students with an IQ of over 120 and all students with an IQ of over 150 who apply to one or more Ivy League universities are accepted to at least one of them. The statements above, if true, best support which of the
following conclusions?

"¢ Every graduate of TopNotch High School with an IQ of 150 has been accepted to at least one Ivy-League school.

"¢ If a person is a high-school graduate and has an IQ of less than 100, he or she could not have been a student at TopNotch High School.

"¢ If a person has an IQ of 130 and is attending an Ivy-League school, it is possible for him or her to have graduated from TopNotch High School.


"¢ At least one graduate from TopNotch high school who has applied to at least one Ivy-League university has been accepted to one of them.

"¢ If a high-school graduate has an IQ of 150 and is not attending an Ivy-League school, then he or she did not apply to one of them.

I am not getting as to why option D is wrong... I feel the option D is the correct answer!!!

my choice is C
"¢ If a person has an IQ of 130 and is attending an Ivy-League school, it is possible for him or her to have graduated from TopNotch High School.

If a person has an IQ of 130 (is derived from the argument -Most students with an IQ of over 120) and is attending an Ivy-League school (from the text- are accepted to at least one of them )it is possible for him or her to have graduated from TopNotch High School(from the text- Everyone who has graduated from TopNotch High School has an IQ of over 120).


as for D, please pay attention to the fact that the text mentioned "Most students with an IQ of over 120"
it means that there are still some students that applied, but not accepted.

Hi Amit,
as to why option D is wrong.

say, topNotch had 5 students all of whom scored 140 and applied to an IVY school. it is possible that none of them got admitted. ( ... Most students with an IQ of over 120 ....).

So it need not be true that atleast one got in!

Basically, the "most" students over 120 who get into Ivy league could theoretically exclude ALL students from TopNotch. That is to say, when they say "most students over 120 get in", they could mean "all students over 120 get in EXCEPT those from TopNotch high school -- we hate those guys."

Grad from TopNotch>120.
if student's IQ >150 confirmed admission.

if 120<IQ<150 cant say if selected or not. Hence D is wrong.

Can anyone plz tell why option B is wrong? The question stem says that evryone graduating from TopNotch High School has IQ>120. So if some graduate has IQ<100, then he is not from TopNotch High School.

yes both B and C look correct.
But i think B stretches the imagination a bit far by predicting past graduates etc. The passage may be talking about present graduates. we don't know! and again we are guilty of supposing....
C is definitely correct by use of the word "possible" in it's statement. hence C.
I went for B too!!

That's pretty much I can make out of this one.

Yes, i agree that C looks correct. But still not sure why B is incorrect. Can any expert step in plz?
At the beginning phase of GMAT preparation.

I eliminated B when I realized that a student could have attended TopNotch but not graduated from there.
