Veritas CAT

Hi everybody - based on (very useful) guidance from this forum I decided to enroll in the VP weekend course which has been quite useful so far (after the verbal weekend).

I just took my first CAT with VP and am a bit shocked about how easy it was. Does anybody have any comments regarding how VP CATs fare compared with MGMAT and Kaplan ... and more importantly the real GMAT?

Here is my CAT history:

Nov 07 - Kaplan Free CAT: 600
(no V / Q split)

Nov 07 - MGMAT CAT1: 600
V32 (67%) Q42 (66%)

Apr 08 - GMAC CAT1: 640
V38 (86%) Q39 (59%)

Apr 08 - MGMAT CAT2: 600
V32 (67%) Q41 (64%)

Today - VP CAT1: 730
V42 (95%) Q54 (99%)

Now, you can see that my previous tests are from a while back and I have worked on a lot of my weaknesses since then. I also understand that MGMAT and Kaplan are quite hard. But this jump is a bit extreme?

Thanks for all of your comments. Good luck everyone.

I wouldn't say that the VP tests are easy, but once in awhile, a student will score exceptionally well (or exceptionally poorly) on a practice test, and this may not be an accurate predictor of future test results.

I'm not saying you didn't deserve the 700+ score, but maybe you just got a good mix of questions, or who knows what else. It's also possible that your studying and (especially) taking the Veritas class have really paid off for you! :)

I would recommend taking another practice test after your math weekend and see how you do.

Good luck!

As you have taken the Veritas coaching, their questions might be familiar to you. I got q41 in Veritas CAT and I can't believe that. Although most of the questions I got wrong were due to silly mistakes, giving 41 for 9 mistakes is cruelty(when I didn't get a single question wrong in the first 15 questions).

Yes, Veritas questions are easy compared to MGMAT.
