A certain business produced x rakes each month from Nov- Feb and shipped x/2 rakes at the beginning of each month from <arch through October. The business paid no storage costs for the rakes that had not been shipped. In terms of x, what was the total storage cost, in dollars, that the business paid for the rakes for the 12 months from Nov to October?

Calculate the inventory, November through October:

x 2x 3x 4x 3.5x 3x 2.5x 2x 1.5x 1x 0.5x 0x

Calculate the total storage costs: multiply by 0.1 dollars and add together:

0.35x + 0.3x + 0.25x + 0.2x + 0.15x +0.1x + 0.05x = 1.4x

The answer is C.

I was wondering how you knew to multiply it by 0.1 dollars eventhough there was no mention of any cost amount? Much Appreciated
