I just took the GMAT and scored a terrible 470 (Q-31/V-24). I have no idea what went wrong. I took the two GMAT practice exams (downloaded from MBA.com) under real conditions and scored a 550 on the first test and a 580 on the second test. I was told that the practice exams were the best to take to determine where you are scoring. I covered the basics taught by MGMAT and still scored terribly. Does anyone know what could have went wrong? Could it be test anxiety? I haven't got a clue. Please Help!!

Same thing happened to me 2 times now ! But, while I was taking the actual verbal test, I knew that i was screwing up big time, because I couldn't understand many RC questions and consequently took forever, in vain, to answer. Also, I took long time in CR; I was feeling as if I have never studied for CR ! My score dropped form 530 and 520 to 460; stupidly, I was hoping I could get 550.

I don't think test anexiety is a big factor. I think that the strict timing is the reason. For some reason, time was flying by, unlike in practice.

Schedule the test again, and take comprehensive tests, and try to finish as fast as possible in Verbal. This is what i am going to do.

I took the test today.

I wish I could vanish.
