Bricolage is an unusual art form because it is formed of materials such as knickknacks and cast-offs not usually employed by fine artists.

3. because it is formed of materials like, knickknacks and cast-offs, materials
4. in that its formation, materials such as knickknacks and cast-offs, is
5. in that it is formed of materials such as knickkacks and cast-offs, materials

I correct answer is shown as E but I feel E is quite wordy and unsuitable to be the correct answer choice. A sounds just fine!
Please explain.

Thanks

The problem with A is that it seems as if it is referring to a certain type of cast off that are not used by fine artists.

The fact that knickknacks and cast-offs are both not used by fine artists is not coming out in this sentence.

We have to choose the sentence which combines knickknacks and cast-offs and says that together they are not used by fine artists.

E may be a touch convoluted but it at least conveys the meaning.

Remember you choose brevity only between two correct options not between an incorrect and correct one.

Hope this helps!!
