Unlike lions and tigers, which can be roaring by causing its hyoid bones to vibrate, domestic cats have fixed hyoid bones and are therefore unable to roar.

A. which can be roaring by causing its hyoid bones to vibrate, domestic cats

B. which can roar by causing their hyoid bones to vibrate, domestic cats

C. who can roar by causing their hyoid bones to vibrate, domestic cats differently

D. who can roar by causing its hyoid bones to vibrate, domestic cats

E. of which the hyoid bones vibrate to cause a roar, domestic cats

Whats wrong with E
I think in E the first clause is passive and the second clause after the comma is active.I think the first clause changes the meaning of the sentence .It conveys the msg that the hyoid bones vibrate on their own and force the lions and tigers to roar

E has faulty sentence construction.

Unlike lions and tigers, of which the hyoid bones vibrate does not make any sense.

If you want a construction in the same lines, the the right one would be -

Unlike lions and tigers, the hyoid bones of which vibrate - This would still be awkward though. B is so much better.
