A) 'As a result' is not used correctly here. The cause is not properly defined.
B) 'and harmless' is not directly refering to Tomato. 'it was therefore once' is not correct. 'it' can refer to tomato, or nightshade family, or belladona. Unclear anticedent for the pronoun.
C) ', and is a member...' is not correctly modifying tomato
D) Correct. Correctly modifies tomato by placing 'Though now eaten in large quantities around the world and known to be harmless' close to tomato and correctly modifies nightshade family by placing 'which includes belladonna' next to it at the end of the sentence
E) 'including belladonna, the tomato...' looks like the tomato is also being examplified along with belladonna

A. parallelism error - eaten in large quantities around the world and harmless
including belladonna - seems to modify the subject -"tomato".

B. parallelism error - eaten in large quantities around the world and harmless

C. "including belladonna" seems to modify the subject.
parallelism error -- is harmless and now eaten in large quantities

D. Correct parallel structure : now eaten(past participle) in large quantities around the world and known(past participle) to be harmless
Which includes belladona - here "which" refer to family.

E - "including belladona" is ambigious - i dont know what is referring to : "tomato" or "A member of ....."
Same paralleism error.

Hope this helps !!
