At the time of the Mexican agrarian revolution, the most radical faction, that of Zapata and his followers, proposed a return to communal ownership of land, to what had been a pre-Columbian form of ownership respected by the Spaniards.

OA is A.

I was confused between A and E and wrongly chose E.
However, looking at the explanation in the below link, I understand why A is the correct option.

To chose between A and E . After re reading the sentences the option E conveys wrong meaning "land that had been Pre columbian ...." .

IMO A.
